Sunday, May 14, 2006
The Clarion-Ledger
Section: Metro Chamber of Commerce
This April, Keith Kinkade and Luke Abney, co-owners of The
Rogue and Good Company LLC received outstanding awards from the Small
Business Administration for their efforts and contributions to the victims
of Hurricane Katrina. A special ceremony was held in Washington, D.C.
for the recipients along with a presentation to all the outstanding small
businesses across the United States.
The Rogue's main contribution was in the form of clothing.
T-shirts, suits, and overcoats, as well as ladies and children's clothes
were given to the victims of Katrina. The contribution to date has totaled
nearly $3 million in clothing donations with about 18,000 articles being
donated. From September 1st until October 31st, the Rogue also dedicated
a percentage of its sales to Hurricane Katrina relief. Through this effort
they raised $25,000 in cash and donated the money to agencies and churches
who were proactive in the efforts to help the victims and the survivors.
The Rogue is a gentlemen's clothing store based in Jackson,
MS for over 38 years. The Rogue was founded by Billy Neville in 1968.
With their landmark location on I-55 North in Jackson, MS, Mr. Neville
sold the store to Keith Kinkade and Luke Abney on August 25, 2005, roughly
three days before Hurricane Katrina made landfall. Keith Kinkade had worked
at The Rogue for 13 years before purchase of the business with Luke Abney.
