Ask "The Rogue"
| Q. |
How high should the collar of a shirt be? |
| |
It depends on how far you like to stick your neck out. |
| A. |
The goal is to use the art of illusion to minimize extremes. Thick necks
look better in lower collars that help emphasize length. Those with long,
thin necks should go with higher collars that mask the length. If you have
a fairly standard neck, relax... and wear any collar height you want.

| Q. |
How far can you go in mixing patterns? |
| |
If you're auditioning for the circus, go ahead mix plaids with polka dots with stripes with flowers. |
| A. |
For the rest of your life, combine large-scale and small-scale prints. A good rule
is to mix one large print with one or two small ones, such as chalk stripe suit with
a small windowpane check shirt and a large-scale paisley tie; for casual wear, try
a tropical print shirt with herringbone trousers.

| Q. |
Where oh where can you wear an unconstructed blazer? |
| |
Everywhere but to visit your mother-in-law, who probably doesn't approve of anything you wear so don't worry about it. |
| A. |
An unconstructed, unlined blazer gives you the ultimate in freedom and versatility.
Wear it just about anywhere you'd wear a tailored blazer, except maybe on the Queen's
yacht. Great with linen trousers, khakis and jeans. It's cool... and it's cool.

| Q. |
Are flat-front pants appropriate anywhere pleated pants are? |
| |
Yes, but especially so when riding in your flatbed truck, admiring your flattop haircut or watching your flat-screen TV. |
| A. |
Flat-front pants are not only appropriate, they're right in style. With suits...
blazers... sportshirts and tees, today's look is definitely flat!
|
| Q. |
When is it permissible to wear wrinkled fabrics? |
| |
It could be when you actually have slept in your clothes.. |
| A. |
But, pure linen gives you the license for wrinkles. Summer's ultimate cool fabric
exhibits natural slubs and wrinkles that are part of its ease and elegance.
